The short answer

Apollo-managed funds completed the acquisition of IGT Gaming & Digital and Everi on July 1, 2025. The combined private business uses the IGT name; Brightstar Lottery is the separate lottery business. An old IGT corporate reference may therefore point to a different company.

The IGT name survived the 2025 restructuring, but the businesses behind it changed. For readers following suppliers, the practical problem is identifying which organization an announcement, filing or product belongs to. The old corporate name alone is no longer a sufficient identifier.

What closed on July 1, 2025

The closing announcement says Apollo-managed funds completed the acquisitions of IGT Gaming & Digital and Everi in an approximately $6.3 billion transaction. The combined privately held business adopted the IGT name and Las Vegas headquarters. Its announced structure comprised Gaming, Digital and FinTech.

Where the lottery business went

The lottery operation announced the Brightstar Lottery identity on June 17, 2025. The name change separates that organization from the Gaming & Digital activities sold in the transaction. A source about Brightstar’s lottery operations should not automatically be treated as a report about the combined IGT supplier.

How the split changes company research

Keep the legal entity, business segment and reporting period beside any financial figure. For example, a historical consolidated report may include operations that a later report no longer contains. Reusing the company’s old label does not restore a like-for-like comparison. A transaction date is also different from the effective date of every product-brand change.

A useful research record has three separate fields: the name printed on the document, the business described inside it and the date covered. That prevents an old investor presentation from becoming evidence of the new private company’s current performance. It also preserves historical sources without silently relabeling them.

This is a background map of the completed 2025 transaction. It does not identify current executive appointments or claim that every product has been rebranded. For a new contract or product announcement, use the issuing company’s current release and name the relevant business unit.
